As the DN noted just before Thanksgiving, we have much to be thankful for. One thing that did not make the list, is that we are thankful that the Huntington family accepted our invitation to celebrate Thanksgiving in our new home. Everybody arrived Thursday afternoon after a snowy trek from Chicago. While the rest of the Huntingtons were driving, the DN busily prepared a Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings from a gorgeous bird to Laura's famous rolls to a cherry pie (a little touch of Grandma).
Friday was spent touring our neighborhood, enjoying some Brooklyn Pizza -- a pregnancy staple for the DN -- browsing through downtown and watching the Illini win a squeaker. All topped off by Laura's excellent turkey pot pie. Saturday the Huntington women hit the mall, where Laura picked out some beautiful maternity fashions thanks to a very kind birthday gift from Mom & Dad Huntington. She is now an even more stylish pregnant lady, although as you know she started out very stylish -- she is one smokin' pregnant lady.
Sadly everyone had to leave for home Saturday afternoon. Ellen had rehearsal Sunday for her regular gig. For those who do not know, Ellen is a professional flutist and plays in the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra. Check it out if you are ever in the area, you will not be disappointed.
It was great to have everyone together and to share our home with them. We look forward to more frequent visits as the weather turns warmer and as Charlie makes the DN an even bigger draw for our extended family.
