This X-ray depicts Dave's hand shortly after he fell on a bit of uneven pavement while running Friday morning. He absolutely shattered his finger. Note the unnatural angle at which his pinkie juts out from the rest of the hand. Ew. He claims to be fine, but we have an appointment with a specialist to see whether surgery will be necessary. In true Donoghue fashion, he is a lousy patient and insists on picking up his son, caring for two bad puppies, and riding his stationary bike.

It really doesn't look shattered. This looks like something you could just pull straight and tape up.
How did this happen?
I was running, tripped and broke the fall with my right hand. The finger took the brunt of the fall. I was lucky I didn't break my wrist. As for the diagnosis "Dr." Gulde, the sutgeon used the term "shattered" and told us that it will not set b/c the tendon running between the knuckles pulls on the break causing it to rebreak every time it is set. Fortunately, the surgery was successful.
So you had surgery after all. I am glad to hear that it was a success. I knew not-running (my daily activity) would prove more healthy than you speedy counterparts.
