"Oh, my!"

That is a direct quote of the pithy medical analysis we received from Laura's doc on Friday. We were expecting a string of medical jargon followed by a qualified guesstimate of how close Charlie's arrival was. Instead we got "Oh, my!" followed by an emphatic "The baby's head is *right here.*" For those of you who did not struggle through med school, that means the doc thinks Charlie is coming soon, very soon -- like this month, could even be this week. The DN could not be more excited. And that was just the right encouragement to finish up the nursery like one of those HGTV home improvement shows on fast forward. These are some pics of the nursery. The walls are filled with poufy white clouds (the clouds are much more visible in real life) and airplanes. The pics do not do it justice, it looks incredible. For those of you worried about Charlie's health and well-being, the stuffed animals will be removed from the crib before Charlie's arrival. We promise.

Also, we would like to thank Reagan Hood (& her husband/deliveryman) for supplying the crib and the glider (which will soon be underneath the solar system mobile in the corner of the room by the window). If anyone is in the area and looking for baby-anything (from furniture to clothing to cute toys and books) check out Babyhood on Maple west of Old Woodward.

--- Update ---

As Matt noted, that is indeed a NASA flight suit draped over the corner of the crib. (That too will be moved before the little guy actually arrives.) Although Charlie will not be able to fit into the suit for quite a while, he will be able to dream, as his Papa once did, of becoming an astronaut. Hopefully Charlie's dreams will not be dashed by knee surgery necessitated by a boneheaded game of capture-the-flag after dark...
