Come On Over Sophie

This is a pic of Gert at our neighbor's fence cheering for the neighbor dog Sophie (a golden retriever pup) to break free of the fence and come for a visit. You can see Sophie's paw scraping at the frozen ground under the fence. Sophie is a delightful dog, full of energy and enthusiasm. Every time she hears Fido and Gert in our yard she begins a desperate effort to dig under the fence and visit. At first, she routinely made it with no problem -- the second pic is Sophie's return after one of those early visits. As she has grown, the ground has frozen and as our clever neighbors have blocked her favorite holes, however, Sophie's job has gotten increasingly difficult. But Sophie perseveres, continuing her valiant struggle for freedom.

Sophie is the sort of tenacious dog the DN are proud to be associated with. One day -- when Sophie figures out how to break free again -- we will give you a pic of more than her paw.
