Gertrude went in for her annual checkup the other day and was told that she is too tubby. The vet recommended that she trim down drastically. Apparently, Gert is carrying about ten extra pounds these days, most of it in her caboose. Ten pounds -- roughly 1/4 of her body weight -- is a lot for that dog to lose. So we have implemented a Gert-reduction plan, which consists mostly of limiting her dog food intake (and attempting to limit her toddler-food intake). Unfortunately for us and for Gert, she took a few steps backward last night. Nana discovered her up on the dining room table, smacking her chompers after eating the chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting that I was saving for dessert. Bad dog!

Gert-Reduction Plan -- A Setback
