DN Public Service Announcement

If you are reading this post, you may have already seen our first advertising problem. The ad is for a dog finding/selling company. As you know more than you may want to, the DN loves dogs, particularly our own. There are thousands and thousands of wonderful dogs that have been discarded like broken household appliances and are currently spending their last days in shelters around the country. Many of these dogs, from puppies to seniors, will be killed because the shelters do not have room to house all of the dogs that are turned over to them. So, if you want a dog -- and the DN encourages you to get one or two or three they are excellent additions to your family -- please get the dog from a shelter or a rescue. It is almost criminal to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on pure-bred dogs when there are perfectly good, loving dogs awaiting execution in shelters in just about every city in America. And if you have a dog that you no longer can care for, please try to find it a home.
