Action-Shots from the O.R.

Now that I am pretty much healed and (almost) off of the narcotics, I can look back fondly on the C-section procedure. It was, as I am sure you can appreciate, a bizarre day, knowing with reasonable certainty that within an hour or two of checking into the hospital and after ten minutes of going under the knife (7 layers of tissue!) I would hear my baby girl cry behind the sterile blue curtain. But what made the experience even more surreal was the fact that this time around, the nurse was actually snapping pictures in the operating room as they were stitching me up. (I am not sure how my husband pulled this off, but a shout-out goes out to him for convincing them to do it.) So here you go -- for posterity, we have, in chronological order, the "before" shot (the Donoghue Nation at 8:00 a.m., before leaving for the hospital), and the subsequent "after" shots (the Donoghue Nation at approx. 10:30 a.m., with a new addition.)

Hi Laura, David, Charlie, Ruthie and Gert.

Just finished looking at all the new pictures and can't wait to see that precious new baby. I sure would love to hold her and pat her cute little bottom. Nana D. will have to hug and kiss both children for me.

Only four more days and Nana D. will be with all of you. I know she is looking forward to it. It seems unreal that things will change so much within 4 days. I sure will miss her, but I guess time does march on.

Looking forward to seeing you all sometime soon. Laura, enjoy your time off with your precious babies.

XOXOXOXOXO (one for each of you),
Roberta
