Columbus Day is apparently is a federal holiday. Which means that Roxane got the day off, and Charlie and I got to spend the day together. All summer I have been meaning to take him to the Garfield Park Conservatory to see the "Niki in the Garden" exhibit of wacky, brightly-colored sculpture, and this was my chance. It was sweltering -- almost 90 -- (which is hard to believe because today's high is 55, but that's Chicago for you) -- and we didn't last long in the heat, but we lasted long enough to run around the grounds and enjoy being together on a Monday.
