Bike! Bike!

Dave bought a new bike last month, complete with a back seat for his able co-pilot Charlie (and a penguin for said co-pilot to honk). Charlie was a little skeptical at first, but he soon figured out that a bike ride with Daddy was the best thing ever. Daddy and Charlie have been riding to Roxane's in the morning ever since. On those days when Mommy has to take over because Daddy has a hearing or deposition, there is a minor mutiny in our house, as the frustrated boy calls out for "bi'! bi'! Daddy! Daddy!"

Disclaimer: The last picture in this series was taken under unique circumstances. The DN always wear their bike helmets when riding any bike. On this one occasion, I made an exception to that rule -- on the safe, quiet street in front of our house going at slow speeds -- so that Charlie could enjoy his first bike ride on the day we got the new bike and before his fast approaching bedtime. At the time, my helmet was still packed from the move to Oak Park and had not been located. I found the helmet that night and have worn it on each and every ride since. Biking without a helmet is very dangerous and a foolish thing to do.
