Loving Gramma D. and Auntie Sarah

Before Auntie Sarah jetted off to Africa to meet up with Uncle Dr. Dave (or is it Dr. Uncle Dave?) -- where they will both be working at a clinic in Uganda -- Auntie Sarah came to meet her nephew. Grandma D came down for the weekend also. As you can see from the pictures, Sarah was very excited to meet Charlie. There were a few tussles as Grandma and Auntie tried to liberate Charlie from one another, but all had a good time. And, the proud parents got some good sleep as well as several tasty meals (including a famous Grandma D chicken dish and some great tortellini soup that fed us for several days), thanks to Grandma D and Auntie.

As for the Africa trip, both Dave and Sarah arrived safely in Uganda. From what we have heard, Dave was able to do some whitewater rafting on the Nile and went on a brief safari before arriving at the clinic, where they are both volunteering now. Sarah emailed cousin Gretchen to tell her that she watched a woman walk out of the African wilderness to the clinic and give birth twenty minutes later without the aid of drugs. Amazing, but the DN is glad for the drugs and the fancy hospital that our health insurance afforded us. God bless modern medicine.
