DN Goes Corporate

You have probably already noticed the ads. I realize many of you are saying, "No surprise here. The DN sells out to the Man faster than they stomped all over their respective engineering degrees and went to law school." But I say, "Not so fast." This is just an experiment. Google is paying us an undisclosed amount -- undisclosed to us as well as to you -- for ads placed on our site based on a complex formula involving the number of hits our blog gets and the number of people who click on particular ads. We are going to try this for a few weeks, perhaps even a few months. The idea is that all proceeds from the ads will go into little Charlie's college fund. Let us know what you think about them. And don't feel you have to click on every ad or visit the site hourly to make sure Charlie can go to school. We have contingency plans, like making Charlie mortgage his first born to the government in order to get student loans (like the DN did for law school, sorry Charlie) or stealing fresh bread to make ends meet (like Charlie's Grandma D is rumored to have done).

Seriously, let us know what you think and we will gladly change and/or pull the ads if they are too distracting. Also, the ads are chosen based on site content, so I am guessing we will see lots of baby and dog ads.
